Here’s a great story from yesterday’s i paper:
In his book The Best of Friends, John Aspinall tells of an incident at Basle zoo related to him by the director Dr Ernst Lang. ‘One evening, after the zoo was closed, a young girl employed to clean the service e corridor tested the door to Stefi’s sleeping quarters and found it open. As the door gave way the 350 lb male grabbed her and the door closed automatically, locking them both in. Steffi was so pleased to have company, particularly female company, that he hugged the terrified girl close to his frame and did not release her until the morning, when help arrived. She was shaken and frightened but unhurt after what was, and is likely to remain, a unique experience.
