After the Fire

Last year one of the nation’s most important 18th century mansions went up in flames. When I saw it on the news I thought that was the end of it, but miraculously, parts of it survived and the National Trust is now restoring it. Not to its full original state, as too much was lost but to form a sort of hybrid with multipurpose spaces with the rooms that survive. Full details here:

  1. What a glorious space! Even in ruins, it’s beautiful. How I’d love to be curator, working on such a project! I remember last year reading about this, and even though I live in Canada, feeling a sense of loss. Heartening to read the article and see the vid clip. Thanks!
