This is from the letters page in the i last week, from Rosemary Shippard of Stafford:
My husband had a cold call, telling him that his computer had problems but that the caller could solve them.
My husband asked how this person knew he had a computer. The answer, in a Chinese accent, was “Your mother told me.”
“That’s interesting,” said my husband, “Since she died 20 years ago. When did she tell you?”
After a slight pause, back came the reply: “twenty one years ago”
We gave him full marks for quick thinking.
