Iggy Speaks Out

It is hard to imagine modern music in Britain without the iconic DJ John Peel, who is now commemorated with an annual lecture in his name.

This year, the 10th anniversary of his death, Iggy Pop, now a DJ on BBC 6Music, gave a brilliant talk on free music, ranging over his long life in the business. He praised Richard Branson and Peter Gabriel, made no apologies for his passion for herbs, or for his car insurance ads, and, well, you can listen to it yourself. I love the notion that the audience is today’s god and if you’re good to them they’ll look after you. Of course we will, Iggy.
