The First Children’s Book

Children’s literature is generally cited as beginninginthe mid 18th century,int he wake of Rousseau’s theories on child centred education, with Thomas Merton and Maria Edgeworth becoming famous, and the latter outselling Jane Austen. But here’s one from much earlier. I never knew that mice chirped:
