I did a post a while back on the last tram of London. Here’s Robyn Hitchcock singing in an underground tram tunnel aided by a woman playing a saw of course. This is lovely and very very English. I love anything that lists old names. A while back I heard a couple of Americans waxing lyrical about the names on London Underground and wishing they could borrow some of them. Hmmmm
Here’s a brilliant companion piece, The Bus Driver’s Prayer, by punk rocker Ian Drury, here recited by Richard Purnell. I love the line, ‘forgive us our Westminster, as we forgive those who Westminster against us’. Brillliant (FYI Westminster is where the Houses of Parliament are):
And after all that dusty travelling, you might need a nice cup of tea, here sung by The Kinks via The Deep South.
