I know it’s Big, but…

Much has been made – especially up North – about the fact that Yorkshire produced so many medals at the olympics that it beat Japan, Australia and lots of other proper countries.

But on Liz Kershaw’s radio programme this morning she had a phone in to nominate the best Yorkshire bands, and I was utterly amazed at how many there were, and even thought of some she omitted.

I am sure I’ve missed out some, but after the closing ceremony of the Olympics, a German paper claimed that it was hard to think of any popular music that did not come from Britain. In music, as in sport, yorkshire seems to hit well above its weight.
