Reg was the best known member of a band that I had forced upon me, rather than my usual method of stumbling upon them.
When I was at university in Australia, I went barefoot as much as possible. In fact it was all a bit topsy turvey as I walked and cycled barefoot but was generally forced to wear shoes indoors. I got the nick name of Trog, as in Trogolodyte, so of course my theme song had to be the Troggs ‘Wild Thing’:
They have never been my favourite band, their lyrics are a bit basic, but they were successful and they were unique. IN recent times they got lucky by having other bands cover their work, especially with ‘Love is All Around’in the movie Four Weddings and a Funeral.
Got to love Wild Thing!
Yeah! completely free of political correctness. The Troggs claim to be the real fathers of punk. They come from that hotbed of culture Andover.

I think they were ahead of their time – belong more with grunge than pop.
