Yesterday I was listening to BBC Radio, a short piece by Bishop of Bradford, Nick Baines. Most of what he said was weaving in Titles of Englebert Humperdink lyrics into thoughts for the day, but at the end, he got into a discussion with the presenter as to who was to be the next Archbishop of Canterbury. when the presenter suggested he put himself forward, he said he wasn’t interested, he said he had not filled outthe paperwork, but then he came out with a line that should be inscribed in every house of parliament, every government chamber.
“I am not a politician, I am an honest man. “
Of course he then went on to qualify it, that there are some honest politicians…
I think he nailed it the first time. Thanks Nick. You should be the next ruler of the world. Canterbury is too small for your honesty!
You’re welcome, and thanks for signing up for my bloggy ramblings
If he hadn’t corrected himself, then he’d be honest.
I guess he is allowing everyone the benefit of the doubt, but good point.
And what of honest women?
a tautology of course
sadly, yes
